Calibration
Before you can enter shots, two preparation steps must be performed: calibration and setting an aim point.

Calibration is done so that distances on the computer screen correspond to real distances on the target. Without this, absolute statistics could not be calculated.

The calibration mode is automatically active when you initially enter the Graphical Entry Page after importing a new image file (note that the "Cal" tool button is bold).

To calibrate "tutorial.gif," place the mouse cross-hair over one end of the known distance mark on the target (the blue line) and single click the left mouse button. As the mouse is moved, the calibration line follows the mouse. The left button is again single clicked when the cross hair is at the other end of the known distance.

When the left mouse button is clicked the second time, an Input Box is opened prompting for the known distance. For "tutorial.gif," the known distance is 1 inch, so enter 1. Known distances should be entered as decimal values (1.5, not 1 1/2), but the known distance can be any value. There is a fraction to decimal conversion chart in the main ShotStat "Help."

If you make an error while calibrating, simply click the "Cal" tool button and re-calibrate. The old calibration line will disappear when you click on the target image.
